Code Generation for Video Games Initial Thought

After constantly working on games and creating many revisions of a game type it seems like there could be a better way. There is a lot of talk about Procedural Generation of content for games, but what about the games themselves. To get away from the traditional idea of game development I think we have to isolate the game content from the game mechanics and use the abstract idea of a human interacting with a machine. Also take what we find with the traditional mechanics found in games, and possibly derive new mechanics from those commonly used. Finally take the interactions with the mechanics and generate content made for those mechanics and interfaces. The combination would give you a vast number of games that you could possibly generate automatically. The final question is how do we tell it will be worth unleashing on to the rest of humanity?
